The 2019 mockbuster, Monster Island, from The Asylum was published at the same time that Godzilla: King of the Monsters. It is about an island called Monster Island where a monster may be discovered, who is sort of the island, the Monster Island, if you will.


Because it's a movie about an asylum it has a budget that is roughly equivalent to a big kid's dinner. It uses it well. It concentrates on a small number of human characters and Monster Island review keeps its main stars on a single set so that all of their sequences can be shot during lunch. This is the kaiju-genre, and that's how they work, so maybe The Asylum won’t be so terrible with it?
